WSOP 2011 Schedule Announced

The World Series of Poker (WSOP) is by far the largest land based poker tournament in the world. It is held during the summer months in Las Vegas every year. 2011 will feature the 42nd WSOP event. As is the current practice the tournament will be held in the Pavilion and Amazon Rooms at the Rio Casino.

58 bracelet events have been announced for WSOP 2011. Bracelet events are the competitive events in which the winner gets a gold bracelet along with the cash prize. WSOP 2011 will begin on May 31 and end late in July. The different events are played in different poker formats and structures. The most common is Texas Hold’em, but there are events in Omaha, Seven Card Stud and H.O.R.S.E.

The defining event, popularly known as the Main Event, is the $10,000 No-Limit Hold’em Championship. It draws the largest number of entries and offers the largest cash prize. The Main Event will begin on July 7 and the final table of the top nine players will be decided by July 19. Then there will be a break of a few months and the event will be completed in November 2011.

The betting sites have not yet opened the markets for WSOP 2011. But while the poker players are betting at the tables their fans and other punters place bets on who will win. Most of the betting is focused on the Main Event. The outright winner of this event is the most popular bet. However, before that bets are placed on whether a player will make it to the final table of the Main Event. This group has come to be known as the “November Nine”. Bets are also offered on the top ranking American player and European player in the Main Event.

Certain markets encompass the WSOP tournament as a whole. Phil Hellmuth is the poker player with the most WSOP bracelets to his name. He won his twelfth bracelet in 2007. Since then he is desperate for his thirteenth bracelet. A very popular bet is bound to be whether he gets this thirteenth bracelet this year or not.

Bettors who are interested in placing wagers on WSOP 2011 markets should track US betting sites because they offer the most variety of bets and give the best odds.
