Week 8 NFL Betting Recap

Believe it or not, bettors at online betting sites aren’t giving up on some of the biggest disappointments in the NFL quite yet. The Dallas Cowboys, Super Bowl favorites for a lot of bettors, have managed only one victory this season.

Despite this poor showing, oddsmakers continuously list the Cowboys as favorites. In week 8, they were 6.5-point favorites against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

It didn’t come as a surprise to anyone who has watched Dallas this season that the Jaguars blew out the Cowboys 35-17.

If you take one thing from last weekend, remember to always bet against Dallas when they are the favorite. This team seems to be set up to let people down at online betting sites.

The St. Louis Rams continued their dominance at home by beating the Carolina Panthers 20-10. The Rams are 4-1 at home this season. Bettors should pay attention to the line when the team is in St. Louis and bet with the Rams as long as it isn’t too unreasonable. Their next home game is in week 11 against the Atlanta Falcons.

Another team that has been pleasing bettors is the New England Patriots. The Patriots are currently sitting at 6-1, with their only loss coming against the Jets away from home. The Patriots were favored by six points in their week 8 match up against the Minnesota Vikings. New England handily defeated the dysfunctional Vikings 28-18.

The Patriots are a reliable team under coach Bill Belichick. Bettors will not often be surprised by the results of their games.

One team that took an unexpected turn in week 8 was the New York Jets. Up to this point, the Jets have been a solid team that performs on a consistent basis. However, they were shut out against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday. Despite being 6.5-point favorites, the Jets could not get anything going on offense.

The Packers rode kicker Mason Crosby’s leg to the win. This appears to be an aberration for the Jets. Expect them to get back to their consistent, winning ways in the weeks to come.
